Special Olympics Red Clay Bocce Competition

Special Olympics Red Clay Bocce Competition

The energy on the courts was contagious as students from across the district came together for the Special Olympics Red Clay Bocce Competition. This annual event celebrates teamwork, inclusion, and friendly competition, bringing together 450 students from 11 schools at McKean High School for a round-robin tournament, where teams earn Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals.

A heartfelt thank you to Special Olympics Delaware for their partnership and support. Special recognition goes to the 81 McKean High School student volunteers, who served as referees, and the Unified PE and Best Buddies students who also joined the fun.

With 35 courts in play and a record number of participants, this year's event was the largest bocce competition in Delaware, marking the fifth year of bocce at McKean and the fourth year of hosting this districtwide tournament.

The participating schools were McKean, MTP, AI, Skyline, HB, Mote, Cooke, Marbrook, Linden Hill, Heritage, and Forest Oak.
